The PaperFlex Consortium, led by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and (RE)SET, is working with major consumer goods companies to accelerate the development of recyclable and biodegradable paper-based flexible packaging solutions as alternatives to plastic. The goal is to address the challenges of plastic pollution by creating environmentally friendly packaging options in markets lacking collection and recycling systems. Through collaborative research and development efforts, the consortium aims to bring these solutions to consumers faster and at a lower cost. The focus is on transitioning towards a circular economy to tackle plastic pollution and promote sustainability, with other FMCG companies invited to join and help scale responsible paper-based packaging solutions.
