Google is partnering with MN8 and Eos Energy to purchase the energy, capacity, and clean energy attributes of the Mammoth Solar project in West Virginia, which includes 86 MW of solar, 10 MW/100 MWh of zinc-based energy storage, and 70 MW/280 MWh of lithium-ion energy storage. This project aims to match clean energy capacity with Google's regional data center load profiles and deliver more capacity across the PJM region. The deployment of zinc-based batteries in this project is one of the largest to date, contributing to the acceleration of long-duration energy storage technologies. This collaboration underscores the importance of prioritizing renewable energy sources to power data centers and address the climate crisis by reducing carbon emissions.
