A federal judge in Rhode Island has ruled that the US EPA acted illegally when it cancelled the $7 billion Solar For All program, which was designed to bring affordable solar power to lower income communities. The program was expected to benefit over 900,000 households and save families $350 million a year on electricity bills, while creating 200,000 jobs. Indigenous groups, such as Indigenized Energy, had already begun implementing solar projects for tribes lacking access to electricity before the program was terminated. The court ruled that the EPA must stop sitting on the funding and start implementing the Solar For All program as intended by Congress, providing much-needed relief to hardworking American families by lowering electricity costs and increasing access to solar energy.
