Coordinated action on clean air and climate change can net $15 for every dollar spent

The UN Environment Programme and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition have highlighted the benefits of coordinated action to address climate change and air pollution together through 25 proven measures and policy reforms. Investing in clean air policies can lead to significant economic benefits, with an estimated benefit-cost ratio of $4 for every dollar invested. Implementing a package of these measures across six sectors could prevent millions of premature deaths and cases of chronic disease related to air pollution by 2050, while also reducing super pollutants and halving global carbon dioxide emissions. The report emphasizes the urgent need for action to reduce air pollution, transition away from fossil fuels, and build more resilient societies through integrated planning, stronger institutions, and better alignment of public and private finance.
