  • Climate Action Journey 2.0 out now – Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre

The updated Climate Action Journey 2.0 provides a strategic pathway for National Societies to strengthen capacities and engage communities in climate action, focusing on community empowerment, understanding climate risks, community planning, mainstreaming climate change, defining strategic priorities, and scaling up adaptation efforts. Enabling conditions such as leadership buy-in, partnerships, flexible funding, community trust, and integration with existing systems are crucial for the journey's effectiveness. Women in communities in Nigeria's Jigawa state have seen improvements in financial inclusion and household resilience through mothers' clubs and savings associations, empowering them to save, access loans, and invest in alternative income sources. The progress made has allowed women to take the lead on financial issues and boost household resilience in the face of climate-related challenges, with financial support provided to National Societies in Africa, Asia Pacific, and Latin America through the IFRC Global Climate and Resilience Pooled Fund.
