Austrian agrivoltaics specialist EWS, in collaboration with the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, reported a 14% increase in winter wheat yield at their research site in Bruck an der Leitha due to shading and microclimate changes under PV arrays. The facility tested different row spacings to assess impacts on electricity generation and agriculture, finding that the 12-meter zone produced 10% more yield in 2024 and a 14% increase in 2026. Further long-term research is necessary to fully understand the effects of agrivoltaics, taking into account factors such as site characteristics, crop type, weather conditions, and soil compaction.
