Fireflies in Southeast Asia, including Bali, are disappearing due to habitat loss, light pollution, pesticide use, and climate change. Wayan Wardika launched Indonesia's only firefly conservation initiative, Bring Back the Light, to breed and release fireflies back into the wild. By focusing on habitat protection and encouraging neighboring farmers to go organic, Wayan aims to boost firefly numbers sustainably. He uses cow poop to create compost and eco enzyme as alternatives to chemical fertilizers and pesticides, creating a pesticide-free zone for fireflies. The conservation efforts have released close to 20,000 firefly larva and adults, gradually increasing local firefly populations while maintaining the sustainability of nature for future generations.
