Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) is partnering with Realta Fusion to explore the development of a 200-megawatt fusion energy power plant in Wisconsin. Realta Fusion aims to commercialize its fusion technology by the early 2030s, with a plant in Wisconsin targeted for the mid-2030s. MGE has made a direct equity investment in Realta and will provide support for the plant's development. This partnership could pave the way for carbon-free baseload energy sources that are not reliant on solar or wind power, potentially replacing fossil fuel plants in the future.
