China Energy Investment Corp has completed the Guohua Rudong solar-hydrogen-storage integrated project in Jiangsu, which features a 400 MW coastal photovoltaic plant, a 60 MW/120 MWh battery energy storage system, and a green hydrogen production facility. This project, now the largest of its kind in China, is expected to generate approximately 468 GWh of electricity annually and is significant as part of China’s third batch of large-scale wind and solar power bases, aiming to create an integrated system for renewable energy generation, storage, hydrogen production, and downstream utilization, alongside ecological restoration measures.

In Australia, the report from Farmers for Climate Action emphasizes not only on-farm electrification but also the need for policy reforms and support for sustainable biofuels to enhance energy security and reduce costs in agriculture. The report advocates for tax policy reforms to facilitate the adoption of electrification technologies and highlights the potential of solar PV and battery storage for powering electric tractors.

Advancements in solar technology are marked by record efficiencies, including a 34.2% conversion efficiency for III-V germanium cells and 29.2% for Trinasolar’s tandem perovskite-silicon cells. In Thailand, the EU Deforestation Regulation is pressuring rubber farmers to adopt sustainable practices, necessitating collaboration across the supply chain and investment in small-scale producers to comply with new regulations. This multifaceted approach is crucial for ensuring sustainability within the rubber industry while promoting biodiversity-friendly strategies.
