The Beyond2020 initiative, led by the SELCO Foundation, has deployed 19 solutions across energy, health, water, and food sectors, benefiting over 429,800 people globally, with a focus on improving healthcare access through six solar-powered health facilities in Karnataka, India. These facilities utilize solar photovoltaic systems, lithium-ion battery banks, and energy-efficient medical technologies to deliver essential services in remote areas. Recognized by the Zayed Sustainability Prize, the initiative aims to positively impact over 400 million lives through sustainable technology solutions.

In response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the Solar for Ukraine campaign, organized by the Biohaus Foundation and Greenpeace, focuses on providing emergency power to hospitals through photovoltaic systems, while also training women as solar installers to broaden their market reach.

In Australia, the proposed Twin Hills wind farm project by Wind Prospect includes 93 wind turbines with a capacity of up to 750 MW and a co-located battery storage system with a capacity of 4,000 MWh. This project aims to enhance grid reliability and store energy for peak demand periods. Additionally, wholesale electricity prices in Australia’s main grid saw a nearly 50% decrease in the June quarter of 2023, driven by increased renewable generation and growing battery storage, despite ongoing challenges such as severe wind droughts and transmission constraints affecting supply.
