Google and Cypress Creek have commenced construction on the Steel River Energy Center in Arkansas, the largest solar-plus-storage project in the United States, featuring a capacity of 2.5 GWdc of solar power and 2.9 GWh of battery storage. In the first quarter of 2026, solar and battery storage accounted for 91% of new electricity-generating capacity, contributing to over 1.4 million jobs in the clean energy sector nationwide.
Meanwhile, in the UAE, Masdar has secured financial backing for a $6.1 billion gigascale renewable energy project, comprising a 5.2 GW solar installation and a 19 GWh battery system capable of delivering 1 GW of continuous clean power. Masdar is funding $1 billion of equity to support this landmark project, which aligns with its goal of achieving 100 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
