Thursday, May 28 2026 Climate Solutions Update

Communities in South Central Texas are actively enhancing resilience against extreme heat, wildfires, and flooding by updating building codes, improving communication networks, and developing nature-based solutions through regional collaboration. The C2ES-hosted Resources Connector Forum underscored the critical importance of public-private partnerships in implementing these resilience strategies, particularly involving sectors such as insurance, construction, and technology. A Regional Action Roadmap is being developed to guide these efforts effectively.

Meanwhile, countries including Canada, Nigeria, and Colombia are progressing in their efforts to reduce methane emissions, particularly in the oil and gas sectors; however, challenges remain as overall methane emissions continue to rise. Concurrently, these nations are advancing geothermal energy initiatives and advocating for the reinstatement of clean energy tax credits as part of a broader transition towards sustainable practices.

The African electric motorcycle market is experiencing substantial growth, with over 100 companies contributing to the deployment of more than 100,000 electric motorcycles annually. This surge is driven by high operational costs of fossil fuel motorcycles and low profits for riders in the motorcycle taxi sector. Notably, Spiro has acquired Coexlion to bolster product development, while Roam has launched the Roam Air Gen 3, designed for commercial use. Additionally, Aquila Earth has achieved a milestone in power-beaming technology, successfully operating a moving warehouse robot wirelessly for 24 hours using laser technology, with plans for commercialization by 2027.
