RWE has secured a contract for the 1.1GW Theodore Wind Farm in Central Queensland, which will consist of up to 170 turbines and a battery storage facility, capable of providing electricity to approximately 500,000 homes. Construction is set to commence later this year, pending approvals, and will create up to 500 jobs at peak times. This initiative is part of Australia’s broader commitment to roll out 19 new renewable energy projects by 2030, aimed at delivering cleaner, more affordable, and reliable power to four million households.
In Europe, the European Commission has allocated €400 million to 65 industrial heat decarbonization projects across ten countries, targeting energy-intensive sectors to prevent over 6.6 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. These projects must achieve financial close within two years to ensure timely execution. Meanwhile, China has set an all-time record by exporting 68 gigawatts of solar components in March 2026, driven by rising fossil fuel prices and a global shift toward solar energy; this surge has resulted in 50 countries reporting record-high imports of Chinese solar products.
Additionally, the Global Lakes Explorer, developed through an international initiative funded by the Global Environment Facility and the United Nations Environment Programme, provides critical insights into freshwater ecosystem challenges, emphasizing the collaborative effort to address pollution and climate change impacts on lakes worldwide.
