Commonwealth Fusion Systems, the first developer of nuclear fusion technology, has applied to connect its planned 400-megawatt nuclear fusion power plant to the PJM Interconnection grid in Virginia. This project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of delivering low-carbon electricity by the early 2030s. The application will undergo a thorough four to six-year assessment process, during which PJM will conduct grid simulation models to ensure the project’s reliability and integration into the existing grid.
