The Tathra wind farm in Western Australia is a hybrid energy project with a total capacity of 2 gigawatts, comprising up to 1,000 megawatts (MW) of wind, 500 MW of solar, and 500 MW of battery energy storage. The project has successfully secured state approvals and is currently undergoing federal environmental assessment. Developer SynergyRED is also enhancing battery capacity with the Collie battery, aiming to ensure affordable and reliable electricity while minimizing impacts on local wildlife.

In New Mexico, the SunZia Wind project, a 3.5-gigawatt wind development, has commenced electricity generation with 916 turbines, contributing significantly to California’s clean energy goals. The project is viewed as critical for reducing carbon emissions and is positioned to replace polluting natural gas plants in environmental justice communities, although it is still in the early stages of operation.

Coastal 500, the world’s largest network of local government leaders focused on coastal protection, has surpassed its original membership goal, now representing over 605 leaders, including participants from Indonesia’s Sangihe Islands.
