At COP30 in Belém, Brazil, countries launched the Belem-Addis Vision, focusing on global indicators for climate adaptation under the Global Goal on Adaptation. The discussions highlighted the necessity for increased financing, particularly grant-based finance in agriculture, and emphasized accountability mechanisms to ensure funds effectively reach vulnerable communities. Key elements of the vision include the importance of healthy ecosystems, community-led adaptation, and food security, as underscored in Article 1. As preparations for COP32, the upcoming climate conference in Addis Ababa, progress continues to be made.

India has set new climate goals, targeting a 47% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions per unit of GDP by 2035, and aims for 60% of its electricity generation capacity to come from non-fossil fuel sources by the same year. Additionally, India intends to enhance its carbon sink through trees and forests by 3.5-4 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent from 2005 levels by 2035, demonstrating its commitment to nature-based solutions.

In the energy sector, Microsoft and NVIDIA are collaborating to utilize artificial intelligence to address bottlenecks in design and regulatory review processes within the nuclear power lifecycle, enhancing efficiency and accelerating energy planning. Concurrently, Oʻahu’s roadmap towards a zero-carbon energy system is outlined with specific milestones, including eliminating oil generation by the 2040s and advancing solar and battery projects by 2030. These initiatives illustrate the complexities and challenges in implementing climate solutions while striving for sustainability in energy.
