Onyx Solar is enhancing Atlassian’s new Sydney headquarters with a cutting-edge building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system, featuring 1,794 solar glass louvres that serve as a self-shading mechanism, improving energy efficiency and occupant comfort. This innovative facade will enable the building to generate its own energy, contributing to Atlassian’s target of achieving 100% renewable energy operations by 2027.
In a separate initiative, an $81 million investment is supporting a forestry project on the Tiwi Islands, aimed at planting 30,000 hectares of native eucalypt species for construction timber and wood products. This project emphasizes local ownership and job creation while generating carbon credits, thereby fostering both financial and environmental sustainability within the community.
Additionally, the ScotWind lease round in 2022 allocated nearly 29GW of seabed capacity for offshore wind projects, marking a significant advancement in the renewable energy sector. This development underscores the critical role of offshore wind in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning to a sustainable energy system. Furthermore, the Net Zero Investment Framework advocates for comprehensive systemic changes to address climate risks, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among investors and policymakers to support decarbonization efforts across various sectors.
